- Be punctual to all rehearsals. Do not gather in the hallway outside the Rehearsal Room. Arrive at the DAC in plenty of time to check in, pick up your music folder and any handouts and be in your seat by the time the rehearsal begins. Late-comers should check-in immediately upon arrival.
- Use the restroom before 4:30, as there will be no breaks during the rehearsal period. For emergencies, please see a Parent Monitor or Mentor.
- DO NOT ROAM ABOUT THE BUILDING AT ANY TIME, and keep elevator use to a minimum. We are guests of the Durham Arts Council, and there are many classes going on while we are here. Please treat theses facilities with respect. Restrooms and water fountains are located in the hall outside the Rehearsal Room.
- If you bring a snack to choir, please finish it before 4:30 and discard the wrapper. No snacks or drinks are allowed at your seats. There are snack machines located in the Durham Arts Council; however, we will NOT be able to provide the singers with correct change or assist when the machines are out of order. Many parents send their children with a healthy snack, which is MUCH more preferable to using the costly machines! It is recommended that you bring a water bottle to rehearsals.
- An email or written note is necessary for early dismissal from a rehearsal. NOTE: please be aware that the director generally leaves home 1 ½-2 hrs. prior to rehearsal. Please try to send any communication well in advance when possible.
- At all times show respect for each other, the directors, parent volunteers, staff and the facilities. Pay attention to the Director at ALL times. Do not behave in a manner which is disruptive or distracting to fellow singers, directors or the accompanist, or which prohibits a positive and successful rehearsal. Any singer who behaves in a disruptive manner may be asked to sit out from the rehearsal; consequent disruptions may result in dismissal from the DCC.
- Attendance is required at all scheduled mandatory performances (noted on the Season Calendar). Acceptable reasons for an excused absence from a performance are illness, death in the family or a school music concert. Please notify the director as soon as possible prior to or after the concert.
