Amahl and the Night Visitors

Just in time for Christmas!

The popular American one-act opera, Amahl and the Night Visitors by Gian-Carlo Menotti will be presented on December 1 and 2 at 7:30 PM, and December 3 at 3:00 PM. All performances will be held at Duke Memorial United Methodist Church, located at 504 W. Chapel Hill St, Durham, 27701. The opera tells the story of a Amahl, a crippled boy, who meets three wise men seeking shelter on the way to visit the Christ Child. (length: one hour)

The production is co-sponsored by Durham Children's Choir and Duke Memorial. Grey Lehman of the Durham Children’s Choir sings the role of Amahl, with other choir members as villagers, along with members of the Duke Memorial sanctuary choir. Also appearing: Elizabeth Linnartz, Mother; Brian Oliver-Smith, Markos Simopoulos, Lewis Moore, Kings; Tim Turkington, Page. Music director is Bradley Naylor of Duke Memorial and stage director is Jane Williams, theatre director at Orange High School in Hillsborough. The producer is Scott Hill, founder and director of the Durham Children's Choir.

Tickets for the production will be $10 for adults and $5 for children and seniors. They will be available from the church and the Children's Choir after Nov. 14, or at the door.
