The Durham Children’s Choir was founded by Scott Hill in May, 2004, with assistance from the Durham Arts Council, Duke University Chapel Music and private contributions. The choir and its directors are committed to providing an environment where young singers can attain the highest level of excellence in public performances, while maintaining a membership that is open to children of all racial, cultural, religious and economic backgrounds in the Durham area.

The Durham Children’s Choir studies and performs a wide variety of choral music, including sacred and secular music, world music, gospel, Broadway, and American popular songs.

Music theory and appreciation are included in weekly rehearsals which run throughout the traditional school year.
